          A Scientific Forum on Rays of Hope: Cancer Care for All will take place from 27-28 September 2022 at the Vienna International Centre (VIC) in Board Room D, C building, 4th floor. The Forum is being held in conjunction with the General Conference.

          Participation and Registration

          The Scientific Forum will be held as a physical meeting with a possibility of remote connection.

          Participants from Member States, UN Specialized Agencies, IGOs and NGOs attending in person need to register using the InTouch+ platform. When submitting their application through InTouch+, it will automatically be routed through InTouch+ to the designated focal point for approval. If such a focal point has not been assigned, the application will be submitted automatically to the IAEA.

          Persons who want to attend virtually with the possibility to send questions are requested to register online. All registered persons will shortly before the event receive an access code to the IAEA Conference App which will allow them to view and access information and to ask questions.

          Persons who want to follow the presentations without actively participating in the Forum can do so via the livelink button which will be available on this web page.

          Scientific Forum 2022: Rays of Hope: Cancer Care for All

          Cancer kills far too many people — particularly in Africa. The International Atomic Energy Agency’s new initiative ‘Rays of Hope’ sets out to change that, by supporting the establishment and expansion of radiotherapy services, with a particular focus on the more than 20 IAEA Member States that completely lack facilities for radiation treatment.           Bringing Rays of Hope: Scientific Forum Opens

          Cancer – a leading cause of death worldwide – impacts patients, their families, worldwide health systems and economies. It causes almost ten million deaths every year with €1.16 trillion spent on prevention, treatment and disability support. As the burden of cancer grows, inequality grows with it – 70 per cent of deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries. Read more →

          The Week Ahead: IAEA Hosts Annual General Conference

          Representatives from the IAEA’s 175 Member States will convene from 26 to 30 September for the 66th IAEA General Conference at the Agency’s headquarters in Vienna, Austria. In conjunction with the General Conference, the IAEA will host its annual Scientific Forum from 27 to 28 September with this year’s theme, Rays of Hope: Cancer Care for All. The IAEA initiative, Rays of Hope, seeks to help countries increase access to cancer care either by establishing or expanding their capabilities in this area. Read more →
