A key objective of the OA-ICC is to effectively communicate ocean acidification research and raise awareness of the importance of addressing this global threat.

The OA-ICC works with partners around the world to raise awareness about ocean acidification at international fora, such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)’s Conferences of the Parties (COPS), the United Nations Ocean Conferences (UNOC), and the Ocean Decade conferences.
Additionally, the OA-ICC co-leads the Ocean Acidification Community of Ocean Action (COA) along with Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML). The COAs are thematic multi-stakeholder groups that facilitate collaboration and implementation of voluntary commitments addressing the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14 Targets. The Ocean Acidification COA oversees voluntary commitments (VCs) related to ocean acidification and SDG 14 Target 3.
The Centre, together with its partners, also advances outreach and communication on ocean acidification through the UN Ocean Decade endorsed programme OARS, Ocean Acidification Research and Sustainability. OARS plays a key role in ensuring that science informs action on ocean acidification, increasing public awareness, and engaging with policy makers at the national, regional, and international level.
