HERCA is a voluntary association of 56 Heads of Radiation Protection Authorities from 32 European countries. The aim of this side event is to share with other Radiation Protection Authorities groups the possible gaps and ambiguities in the International Radiation Protection Standards that need to be addressed, in the framework of the preparation of new general ICRP recommendations. At this event, HERCA will share the outcomes of a 2024 workshop held in Madrid, Spain, in May 2024, where European countries discussed of the difficulties of the practical implementation of the EU 2013 Basic Safety Standards (BSS) SS Directive based on the IAEA’s International BSS. This event is organized by France.
