The objective of the event is to discuss with the representatives of participating States the content of, and the process to, develop an overarching national policy and the corresponding implementation strategy for the management of disused sealed radioactive sources. Participants are expected to improve their knowledge and expertise in the area of policy and strategy for the management of disused sealed radioactive sources by discussing the requirements and recommendations of IAEA Safety Standards and Nuclear Security Guidance on the subject matter, participating in practical exercises and sharing knowledge, expertise and experience relative to the content of and the process to establish an overarching national policy and implementation strategy.
