Call for Papers: International Conference on Topical Issues in Nuclear Installation Safety

          ,

The IAEA is inviting professionals in the nuclear field to submit abstracts for its 2026 International Conference on Topical Issues in Nuclear Installation Safety. Known as TIC2026, the conference will be held at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria, from 29 June to 3 July 2026.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is 17 October 2025.

          Participate in TIC 2026

Under the theme ‘Learning from the Past to Accelerate the Future’, TIC2026 will facilitate the sharing of knowledge and experiences, and the identification of best practices to advance the nuclear field. The conference seeks to raise awareness of how past successes and lessons learned relating to nuclear safety can inform both operating and new type of designs, in a continuous drive to align nuclear installation projects effectiveness and efficiency with the highest safety standards.

“Over the years, the IAEA’s International Conferences on Topical Issues in Nuclear Installation Safety have driven safety forward by serving as a platform for nuclear safety experts to exchange insights on the most pressing issues related to nuclear installation safety," said Anna Bradford, Director of the IAEA Division of Nuclear Installation Safety. “The TIC2026 focus — ‘Learning from the Past to Accelerate the Future’ — emphasizes the need to address the challenges of nuclear installation safety by building on the lessons learned from past events and recent nuclear power plant projects,” she added.

          Driving Safety Forward

TIC2026 will bring together nuclear safety regulators, plant designers and operators, technical support organizations, and other stakeholders from various countries, along with international organizations. The goal is to build on insights on key topics related to nuclear installation design safety, safety assessment, siting, construction, operation and regulation for both operating and new nuclear installations.

“The conference will provide a comprehensive forum for nuclear safety stakeholders from various generations of nuclear projects, and a wide range of nuclear safety fields, to address different issues in nuclear installation safety, making it an inclusive event,” said Ana Gomez, Head of the IAEA Safety Assessment Section.

          Call for Abstracts

Prospective contributors are encouraged to submit abstracts on one of these topical areas:

          • Making the most of past experience
          • Driving safety forward and reassessing safety concepts
          • Using innovative technologies to enhance safety
          • Taking international cooperation to the next level

A full list of topics can be explored here.

          How to Submit an Abstract

All guidelines on how to submit an abstract can be found here.

Submission of abstracts is expected through the IAEA INDICO?system no later than 17 October 2025. Selected authors will then be notified by 1 December 2025 regarding the acceptance of their paper for oral or poster presentation.

          Who Can Participate

Participation is open to individuals designated by an IAEA Member State or are a member of an organization that has been invited to attend. No registration fee is charged to participants.
