          Cancer Control

          52-2

          Feb, 2011

In the June 2011 IAEA Bulletin issue, articles report on the IAEA?s work on cancer diagnosis and therapy and patient safety in regard to radiological procedures. The focus is also on nuclear safety for nuclear power programmes, nuclear facilities and their ?legacy issues?, and nuclear `newcomers`. This edition also includes articles on the IAEA?s Nuclear Knowledge Management; on the agreement between the IAEA and the Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research (KUSTAR), United Arab Emirates to establish an e-Learning Portal; on the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES); on isotope hydrology; on the IAEA?s legislative assistance programme; on the 23rd IAEA Fusion Energy Conference in October 2010 in Korea; on the production of a higher-yielding variety of banana in the context of increasing food needs; and on the first World Statistics Day. Finally, it includes an interview of IAEA Deputy Director General for Safeguards, Herman Nackaerts, on the challenges facing the implementation of safeguards.
