On 22?September 2014, the International Nuclear Safety Group (INSAG) held its annual forum during the?58th General Conference?of the IAEA. INSAG Chairman Richard Meserve and a panel of nuclear safety experts explored "Defence-in-Depth" and the way forward for further strengthening nuclear safety worldwide.

Treaty Event Hosted at 58th IAEA General Conference
The yearly IAEA Treaty Event was organized during the 58th IAEA General Conference in order to promote universal adhrence to the most important multilateral treaties for which the IAEA Director General is the depositary, notably those relating to nuclear safety and security, as well as to civil liability for nuclear damage.

Synergies on Radioactive Waste Management, Decommissioning and Remediation
The safety of spent fuel and radioactive waste management, decommissioning and remediation are areas of high importance for the IAEA and the European Commission (EC). On these topics, the IAEA and the EC have collaborated for several decades to continually strengthen and improve cooperation and synergies. In 2013, the IAEA and the EC signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Nuclear Safety to reinforce collaboration between the two organizations. The Memorandum outlined an enhanced framework for their continued future activities.
