          Events and Organized Visits

          The IAEA does not own the content of virtual side events organized by third parties within the margins of the 69th General Conference. The IAEA does not take any responsibility for the content of such side events; for the functioning, security, and privacy of any website on which a side event may be accessed; or for the accessibility of pictures and videos featured therein.

          For Side Events with a virtual component held by Member States and the Agency, the responsibility to make the necessary arrangements lies with the event organizers.

          Monday

          The IAEA’s new Transportable Electron Beam (e-beam) Accelerator System?is a versatile facility that allows the treatment of liquids, solids and gases. It will be a cornerstone of the Agency’s assistance to Member States in building capacity and in bridging gaps to address the need for cost-effective and accessible e-beam technology (“ebeams4Development”). The system will enable experts to conduct activities that support NUTECPlastics (polymer modification), Atoms4Food (phyto- and sanitary application), ZODIAC (inactivating microorganisms for vaccine production), Atoms4Climate (environmental applications such as wastewater, sludge, odour and greenhouse gases treatments), Atoms4Heritage (preserving heritage artefacts) and more.

          The 40-feet ISO container in Agency blue, housing the main element of the system, will be on display at A-3 level. Experts will brief delegates about its capabilities, operation, safety aspects and the possibilities for loaning the system to Member States for dedicated experiments and demonstration. The system will not be operational while on display at the VIC (i.e. no radiation protection measures are needed).

          Daily, between 08:00-09:00 and 13:00-15:00, no registration required.

          At this event, the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of Nuclear Incident Preparedness and Collaboration (NIPC) will facilitate a scenario-based policy discussion (SBPD) among IAEA and member state representatives on international cooperation in emergency preparedness and response (EPR) to a nuclear security incident.).  The SBPD will be a high level introductory event that will touch on EPR themes and goals. At this event, information will be provided on the SBPD which is going to be part of topics covered at the IAEA International Conference on Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies: Building the Future in an Evolving World, taking place in Saudi Arabia in December 2025. This event is organized by the United States of America.

          This event will be held on Monday, 15 September 2025, from 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. in Conference Room M7, M Building, ground floor.

          The event will share results from the IAEA coordinated international study on the frequency of patients experiencing tissue reactions during various fluoroscopically guided interventional (FGI) procedures worldwide. Information will be provided about the new recommendations that aim to enhance patient radiation protection in these types of procedures.

          The event will be held on Monday, 15 September 2025, from 12.00 noon to 1.00 p.m. at ESPACE M0E, M Building, ground floor.

          The Philippine Government last year successfully seized and secured around 100kg of depleted uranium in Manila which was imported under the guise of a semiprecious metal and intercepted following alerts from international partners. This was one of the largest successful seizures of radioactive material in the Asia-Pacific.

          The event will highlight how cooperation and sharing of nuclear forensic expertise between the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation Philippine Nuclear Research Institute , and the IAEA proved critical to the operation’s success. It will also promote the importance of nuclear forensics in the prevention of illicit trafficking and nuclear terrorism. This event is organized by Australia.

          This event will be held on Monday, 15 September 2025, from 12.30 p.m. to 2.00 p.m. in Conference Room M5, M Building, ground floor.

          The IAEA Archives are a pillar of the IAEA’s institutional memory, spanning over 70 years and comprising over 10 000 shelf metres of hard-copy records and 10 terabytes of data. These walking tours are an opportunity to look behind the scenes to:

          • Experience the size and composition of the IAEA Archives;
          • Interact with some of the treasures in our holdings and be inspired by the Agency’s history;
          • View the Reading Room and an archival repository, and learn about challenges in preservation and access management; and
          • Hear how the Department of Management oversees the IAEA Archives.

          Tours run from 1.00 to 2.00 p.m. daily. For those wishing to attend the tour, registration can be completed online here or in person at the exhibition on the IAEA online archives catalogue, located on the ground floor of the M building.
