Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Regulators' Forum

The Small Modular Reactor Regulators’ Forum (SMR RF) is an international regulator-to-regulator entity established in 2014. The Forum provides a platform for experienced regulators to work together on the development of consensus-based common positions on challenging SMR-related technical and regulatory issues. The SMR RF consists of a Steering Committee and Working Groups (WGs) and is supported by the IAEA Scientific Secretariat.

The Forum aims to identify, enhance understanding of, and address key challenges in regulatory discussions related to SMRs. The Forum helps to enhance safety and security of SMRs and increase efficiency in SMR regulation, including licensing, and it enables regulatory bodies to identify changes, if necessary, to their requirements and regulatory practices.
