          Description

To reduce the impact of a nuclear or radiological safety or security related emergency, it is necessary for the responders to be adequately and continuously trained. Many health professionals may not be familiar with concepts of ionizing radiation, internal or external exposure or clinical manifestations of overexposure or management of people involved in nuclear or radiological emergencies. Therefore, it is important that medical doctors receive continuous training on medical management of overexposed and contaminated people and be prepared to diagnose and to initiate medical actions at early stage of a nuclear or radiological emergency.

The aim of the webinar is to assist medical doctors and emergency medical personnel in obtaining knowledge on different aspects of medical management of nuclear or radiological safety or security related emergencies in an efficient and coordinated manner. This webinar will consist of presentations of various case studies of nuclear or radiological emergencies based on the related IAEA publications and lecturers’ experiences.
