Networking in nuclear education allows for the efficient use of educational resources and promotes collaboration at both regional and interregional levels. Through meaningful cooperation, educational institutions can share valuable experiences, best practices, and educational materials, enhancing the collective capacity of the nuclear education community.
The IAEA actively promotes partnerships among nuclear education and training institutions worldwide. It has directly supported the establishment and growth of regional educational networks in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia. To further facilitate exchange and collaboration among these networks, the IAEA has created dedicated forums and initiatives.
Collaboration within and across these networks plays a critical role in promoting, managing, and preserving nuclear knowledge. It helps ensure the availability of talented and qualified human resources necessary for the safe and sustainable use of nuclear technologies. Additionally, these networks foster cooperation among academia, government, and industry while advancing quality assurance, benchmarking, accreditation, and the sustainability of educational resources.
The IAEA provides support for nuclear education networks through meetings, technical cooperation projects, and other initiatives. The networks currently supported by the IAEA include:
These IAEA fostered networks have strong collaboration with other educational networks, including the European Nuclear Education Network (ENEN), the UK Nuclear Technology Education Consortium (NTEC), the Belgium Nuclear Higher Education Network (BNEN, SCK?CEN) and the University Network of Excellence in Nuclear Engineering (UNENE).
