General uses
99mTc is the most widely used radioisotope in nuclear medicine. It is used in medical imaging, for example, bone scans, brain imaging, SPECT, PET, as well as for diagnosis and treatment of tumours and other diseases.
Advantages
It does not remain in the body. It targets a part of the body when it is bound to a specific drug (check meaning).
Risks
Tissue can be damaged if overexposure occurs.
