Enhancing Decision-Making in Radioactive Waste Management through Public Participation

This event will focus on the benefits and challenges of involving the public in decisions about high-level radioactive waste. Member States representatives will share their experiences with implementing participation processes and reflect on lessons learned. The event will cover questions such as who should be encouraged to participate and which formats are most effective for reaching citizens, especially young people. Experts will also exchange views on the goals of public participation, from informing citizens on decisions to empowering people to shape them. Finally, the event identifies possible limits of participation and discusses best practices that can work across national contexts. This event is organized by Germany.
