Atoms4NetZero: Assessing the Role of Nuclear Power and Developing Climate Mitigation Scenarios Through the IAEA’s Energy Modelling Tools
Secretariat Side Events
This event will discuss the modelling of energy transition scenarios that address both climate change mitigation targets, including net zero objectives, and the broader context of sustainable development. The Atoms4NetZero initiative, launched by the Director General at COP27, provides a framework for supporting Member States in capacity building in energy planning, to address the challenge of developing pathways towards net zero energy systems. The MESSAGE tool, part of the IAEA energy planning suite, and other assessment tools can be used for this purpose. At the event, there will be insights from experts from Member States, Atoms4NetZero partners and the IAEA.
This event will be held on Monday, 25 September 2023, from 4.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. in Conference Room CR3, C Building, seventh floor.
