Background

The aim of this webinar is to highlight the relevant IAEA Nuclear Security Series (NSS) publications that assist States in the technical implementation of the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material (CPPNM) and its 2005 Amendment, as well as provide a broad overview of technical assistance offered by the IAEA in the area of physical protection and nuclear material accounting and control.

The CPPNM and its Amendment are the main international legal instruments in the area of nuclear security adopted under the IAEA’s auspices. The IAEA actively promotes and helps facilitate adherence to and effective implementation of the CPPNM and its Amendment, including through technical assistance

Objectives

The objectives of the webinar are:

• To present an introduction and broad overview of the NSS publications that relate to the technical implementation of the CPPNM and its Amendment
• To inform Member States of the available resources and assistance provided by the IAEA for the implementation of the CPPNM and its Amendment
