Purpose: To explore the use of irradiated vaccines for the control of diseases of importance.
Objectives: This side event will showcase the Texas A&M/IAEA innovative partnership to develop irradiated vaccines. Improve knowledge on the development of irradiated vaccines
Address the challenges related to animal diseases for which available vaccines are limited or have reduced efficacy Increase awareness of vaccination and support irradiated vaccines development through sustainable approaches.
Background: Irradiated vaccines maintain structural integrity, hence can elicit a better immune response in the vaccinated individuals. IAEA has spearheaded research and development on the application of irradiated vaccines for more than 25 pathogens.
