The event will highlight sustainable remediation of uranium legacy sites amid global trends like clean energy transition, critical mineral scarcity, and zero-waste circular economy. The event aims to illustrate how the close collaboration between IAEA and Wismut leverages synergies for the benefit of Member States. Joint activities include, inter alia, addressing uranium legacy sites in Central Asia and Africa, safe management and possible utilisation of NORM residues, as well as exploring innovative and cost-efficient options for mine closure and post-remedial long-term use. This event is organized by Germany.
