Innovation is essential for the world to meet the commitment undertaken at the 2022 Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention of Climate Change (COP27) of tripling nuclear energy capacity and achieving net zero by 2025. A combination of new technologies, innovations to existing technologies and innovative practices will be required to meet these aspirations. The implementation of novel techniques in a safe and timely manner poses a significant challenge to the nuclear industry, both in the United Kingdom (UK) and elsewhere.?This event will explore how nuclear regulators around the world can become innovative regulators, emphasizing the importance of embracing an open approach to innovation as well as a dynamic interplay between innovation and regulatory frameworks. This event is organized by the United Kingdom.
