          Rights and Permissions

          Copyright Notice

          All IAEA scientific and technical publications are protected by the terms of the Universal Copyright Convention as adopted in 1952 (Geneva) and as revised in 1971 (Paris). The copyright has since been extended by the World Intellectual Property Organization (Geneva) to include electronic and virtual intellectual property. Permission may be required to use whole or parts of texts contained in IAEA publications in printed or electronic form.

          Permission to Reproduce IAEA Copyrighted Material

          In general, users may download and print content from IAEA publications, or make copies for their own use. In addition, excerpts from IAEA publications may be included in documents, presentations, web pages and teaching material, provided that acknowledgement of IAEA is given. The citation: Title of the material, ? IAEA, publication year (if available) and page number and DOI URL as applicable.?

          Users are encouraged to link to the publications from their websites, but we ask that the relevant landing page is used, rather than linking directly to the pdf. An example of a landing page is?here.

          Please note that permission to reproduce IAEA protected material does not include any parts whose copyright is identified as belonging to others. Authorisation to reproduce material in these cases must be sought from the copyright holders concerned.?

          When requesting permissions, please provide the following information:

          Full title of the IAEA publication
          Publication year
          ISBN
          URL (if applicable)
          Exact material (pages, figures) to be reproduced
          Any other details that would allow us to identify the material

          Email?
          Title of work in which it is proposed that the aforementioned IAEA material will be reproduced*
          Planned publication date*
          Publisher’s name
          Print run*
          Price*
          (*approximate acceptable).

          Translations of IAEA Material

          All requests for permission to translate IAEA publications should be made through the appropriate country’s Permanent Mission* to the IAEA and receive their endorsement. The requestor should indicate whether the proposed translation would be produced on a commercial or non-commercial basis. The following information should also be supplied:?

          Title and ISBN of the IAEA publication?
          Contact details (company name, contact name and title, e-mail, phone, fax, address)?
          Language for which translation rights are requested
          The format of any eventual translation (book, electronic version, CD)?
          Expected print run and publication date
          For commercial projects, the approximate selling price should also be given?

          Permission to translate IAEA publications will be subject to an agreement, with signatories from the IAEA, the translating organization and the relevant national authority (if different to the translating organization). The agreement will stipulate the necessary disclaimers to be included as well as other terms.?

          It is the responsibility of the requestor to obtain the endorsement of their Mission and to establish the appropriate signatory from the national authority.?
