          Description

The Coordinated Research Project (CRP) will focus on identifying and enhancing understanding of the families of enabling technologies with potential to either reduce the installation cost and schedule of SMRs or better suit the user needs (e.g. with a higher flexibility or non-electric applications) and thus facilitate the deployment scheme of SMRs and favour their early deployment. Identification of these technologies and finding a way to assess them will help the nuclear industry put development effort where it is most needed and agree on codes and standards evolutions if they need to be developed for these technologies.

          Objectives

The overall objective of the CRP is to promote the development of technologies which can enhance the competitiveness of SMR solutions in the near-term or facilitate their deployment through a better compliance with the user requirements.

          Specific objectives

Technological solutions with effect on competitiveness of SMR available and under consideration by developers and designers

Technological solutions with effect on the uses and applications of SMRs available and under consideration by developers and designers

Identification of gaps and opportunities in the global supply chain for technologies supporting the near-term deployment of SMRs
