The four-week academy will focus on two specific key topics within the overall field of safety assessment to be considered for nuclear power plants: safety assessment of engineering aspects important to safety (1st week), deterministic safety analyses (2nd week), level 1 probabilistic safety assessment (3rd week) and level 2 probabilistic safety assessment (4th week). Each week of the topical areas to be covered by the academy will comprise technical lectures supplemented by practical sessions. For the practical sessions, the participants are expected to resolve case studies with the guidance of the experts. The practical sessions will trigger critical engineering thinking of participants as the basis for performing, by themselves, safety assessments of engineering aspects important to safety and deterministic safety analyses.
