The Treaty Event aims to promote universal adherence to the most important multilateral treaties for which the Director General of the IAEA is depositary, notably those related to nuclear safety and security as well as to civil liability for nuclear damage. In this respect, as was the case in previous years, the Event provides an additional opportunity to deposit instruments of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession.

The next Treaty Event will be held on the margins of the 62nd General Conference on 17 September 2018 and will have a special focus on the Convention on Nuclear Safety and the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management.
