The purpose of this course is to instruct participants on the safety requirements of SSR-4. This includes the Fundamental Safety Objective that the requirements are based on. The content of the course covers the main safety functions for different nuclear fuel cycle facilities, how the safety requirements are applied using the concepts of radiation protection, defence in depth and graded approach, the hazards associated with different nuclear fuel cycle facilities, the responsibilities of operating organizations of nuclear fuel cycle facilities and how the safety requirements are applied for the different life stages of the facility.
