Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen.
I held very constructive and positive talks today with Vice-President Salehi, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
We have agreed to further strengthen the cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.
My visit to Tehran takes place at a very important time. Just two days ago, Implementation Day of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action occurred after the IAEA confirmed that Iran had completed the necessary preparations.
A lot of work has been done to get to where we are now.? A similar and sustained effort will be required in the future. Implementation of the Additional Protocol is of particular importance. We must maintain the momentum.
Relations between the IAEA and Iran are now entering a new phase. We are committed to continuing our work in an impartial, factual and non-political way. Full cooperation from Iran is also needed.
From the Agency’s side, I will do my utmost to ensure smooth collaboration.
