Science and technology are crucial for development. Nuclear science plays a significant role in the achievement of many of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in the fields of health, hunger, energy and the environment. A nuclear technique is used to produce crops that can thrive in a changing climate.

The 2016 IAEA Scientific Forum highlights the contribution of nuclear technology to the SDGs.
