IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano today delivered a statement to the Agency's Board of Governors. Mr Amano briefed Member States on issues including nuclear verification in Iran and Syria. He reported on the Agency’s work to help African countries tackle avian influenza and highlighted the IAEA’s contribution to the recently adopted Sustainable Development Goals. The Board, which meets five times a year at the IAEA headquarters in Vienna, Austria, is one of the IAEA's main policymaking bodies.
