Ann Tutwiler, Deputy Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), was the lead speaker at the IAEA's Rinderpest Freedom Celebration, which took place on 20 September 2011 during the Agency's General Conference. The Joint FAO/IAEA Division made significant technical contributions to the eradication of the animal disease through the development, evaluation, validation and distribution of immunological and molecular nuclear and nuclear-related technologies for the diagnosis and control of rinderpest.
