2016 IAEA Scientific Forum - Session 3: Energy for the Future: The Role of Nuclear Power

Producer: Louise Potterton, Video Editor: Petr Pavlicek

Nuclear power is one of the lowest-carbon technologies available to generate electricity and can play a significant role in mitigating climate change. Several countries are taking concrete steps to introduce nuclear power, but its share in the world's energy mix is decreasing and its competitiveness is being challenged. The third session of the Scientific Forum discussed how innovation, technological advances and new economic models can help increase nuclear power's contribution to the areas covered by the Sustainable Development Goals: SDG?7?(affordable and clean energy), SDG 9?(industry, innovation and infrastructure), and SDG?13 (climate action).
