          Press Arrangements for IAEA General Conference 29 September - 4 October 2008, Austria Centre, Vienna, Austria

          Senior representatives from 145 member states of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will meet at the Austria Centre in Vienna on Monday, 29 September, for the five-day IAEA annual General Conference to discuss major topics on the organization′s agenda.

          All plenary sessions of the General Conference and the Scientific Forum will be open to the press.

          The General Conference will be held from Monday, 29 September to Saturday, 4 October (on 2 October, all sessions will be suspended to observe the holiday of Eid al-Fitr). The Scientific Forum, from 30 September to 1 October, being held for the 11th time this year, is aimed at stimulating discussion on The Future Role of the IAEA.

          Details about the Provisional Agenda, the General Conference and the Scientific Forum, as well as a report by the Commission of Eminent Persons, entitled Reinforcing the Global Nuclear Order for Peace and Prosperity: The Role of the IAEA to 2020 and Beyond, are available on the IAEA website.

          The events will take place at the Austria Center, Bruno-Kreisky-Platz 1, 1220 Vienna, Austria.

          You will be required to present a valid press I.D. and credentials at the accreditation counter, which will be open from 14:30 - 18:30 on Sunday, 28 September 2008.
