The?Joint Eighth and Ninth Review Meeting?of the Contracting Parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety (CNS) will be held at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 20 to 31 March 2023.
IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi will address the opening plenary session on 20 March at 10:00 CET. Dana Drábová, Head of the State Office for Nuclear Safety of the Czech Republic and President of the Review Meeting, will start the proceedings. ?
In force since 1996, the?CNS aims to commit Contracting Parties operating land-based civil nuclear power plants to maintain a high level of safety by establishing fundamental safety principles to which States would subscribe. Today, of the 176 IAEA Member States, 91 are party to the Convention. At Review Meetings — held every three years — the Contracting Parties to the CNS present and discuss national reports on the implementation of obligations under the Convention. The Eighth Review Meeting was postponed owing to COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.

The conference will take place in Boardroom B/M1 in the M-Building of the Vienna International Centre (VIC).
