          Clear Progress in Nuclear Safety Worldwide: Convention on Nuclear Safety Concludes

          A briefing for the press will be held today to discuss the results of the Second Review Meeting of Contracting Parties to the Convention on Nuclear Safety that concluded on April 26, 2002 at the Headquarters of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna.

          The Board of Governors, representing 35 IAEA Member States, will also review measures to strengthen international co-operation in nuclear, radiation, transport and waste safety. It will further assess the state of the world's nuclear technology and focus on the Agency's plan to optimize nuclear safeguards.
