In margin of the 58th’s IAEA General Conference, the 2014 Scientific Forum focuses on nuclear waste management. The September 2014 IAEA Bulletin edition is intended to give readers a clear understanding of the different types of radioactive waste and the measures needed to ensure its safe management and disposal, as well as the role of the IAEA in supporting Member States. Featured articles report on safety standards and best practices as promoted by the Agency, on the developing technologies, and on the international legal instruments related to the issues of waste storage and disposal. The IAEA also provides interregional training courses on the conditioning of radioactive sources, and helps develop capacities on several continents through regional Technical Cooperation projects.
