Cooperation between a State and the IAEA is essential for effective and efficient safeguards implementation. To support this, Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi launched COMPASS in 2020 to partner with States and help them strengthen the effectiveness of their State Systems of Accounting for and Control of nuclear material (SSACs) and State or Regional Authorities responsible for safeguards (SRAs). Now in year two of the 2024-2026 cycle, current and former COMPASS recipient and donor States will discuss their experience, how the initiative has contributed to sustained national capacity, and the benefits of peer-to-peer learning brokered by COMPASS.
