International Training Course on Protecting Computer Based Systems in Nuclear Security Regimes
The objectives of the event are to provide basic awareness of information and computer security for nuclear security professionals, as well as basic concepts of computer security including threats, risk and security controls. The event will also provide demonstrations and exercises, on representative computer systems, of the application of computer security controls and techniques for industrial control systems, with specific attention to representative systems that might exist at nuclear facilities such as those used for nuclear safety and nuclear security.
The event is designed for nuclear security professionals that have responsibilities in the management and/or implementation of computer security. It will involve presentations and hands-on computer exercises. A pre-requisite for participation in the event is previous attendance at an IAEA computer security event or completion of the IAEA’s online course “Introduction to Computer Security for Nuclear Security Practitioners”. The target audience for this course would be competent authorities (i.e., regulators, law enforcement), operators, vendors, and other entities that have responsibilities of information or computer security implementation at nuclear or other radioactive material facilities.
