Training Workshop on the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Information Tool and the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Information System
Introduction
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has developed two key tools to support Member States in the collection, management, and reporting of spent fuel and radioactive waste inventories: the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Information Tool (SWIFT) and the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Information System (SRIS). These systems play a critical role in facilitating accurate and efficient data reporting at both national and international levels, contributing to transparency, regulatory compliance, and informed decision-making.
The Training Workshop on the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Information Tool and the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Information System aims to provide continuous technical support to users of SWIFT and SRIS, ensuring they can effectively utilize these platforms for data collection and reporting. The workshop will also serve as a platform to gather user feedback to enhance the overall user experience and improve system functionalities. Additionally, participants will gain insights into the linkages between SWIFT, SRIS, and other IAEA databases, fostering a more integrated approach to radioactive waste and spent fuel management.?Through interactive discussions and practical demonstrations, this workshop will strengthen Member States' capacity to manage their national inventories while aligning with international best practices.
Objectives
The purpose of the event is to provide continuous technical support to users of the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Information Tool (SWIFT) and the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Information System (SRIS); to collect feedback in order to enhance the user experience; and to demonstrate the linkages between SWIFT and SRIS and the IAEA's other databases.
