Technical Meeting on Advances in Fuel Design, Manufacturing and Examinations for Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors
Objectives
The purpose of the event is to exchange information among experts on pressurized heavy water reactors (PHWR) regarding the current situation and future trends of the design, and the manufacturing, performance and qualification of PHWR fuels, including new types of fuels. More specifically, the meeting aims to:
- Provide the current state of knowledge and experience acquired within the Member States in the last 10 years on PHWR fuels including, but not limited to, fuel modifications/design changes, manufacturing changes, and mitigation of fuel failures;
- Discuss progress in advanced fuel designs (e.g., fuel matrix and materials), and the usage of advanced methods for fuel manufacturing, testing (during manufacturing and PIE);
- Identify issues and challenges affecting design, manufacturing and implementation of advanced fuel designs and propose potential future collaborations.
