IAEA Director General Amano and Ambassadors to Break Ground for New IAEA Labs in Seibersdorf, 31 March 2010
IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano will host a ceremony to launch the construction of improved facilities at the Agency′s Laboratories Seibersdorf on Wednesday, 31 March 2010 at 10:00.
The ceremony will break ground at the site of the extension of the clean lab, a project that will enhance the IAEA′s safeguards abilities. This building is first in a series of laboratory modernization projects.

IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano and Sergei Kirienko, Head of Russia′s Nuclear Energy State Corporation (Rosatom), will sign on Monday, 29 March, an agreement to establish a reserve of low-enriched uranium (LEU) in Russia.
In November, the IAEA Board of Governors authorized the Director General to conclude this agreement with the Russian Federation. The LEU reserve is being established to protect Member States from possible supply disruptions unrelated to technical or commercial considerations.

The meeting is called to elect the next Chairman of the Board of Governors. The meeting is closed to the press. Photo-Op: There will be a photo opportunity at the beginning of the session. IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano will travel to Abuja, Nigeria, from 13 to 15 December on his first official visit to a Member State. During his trip, Mr. Amano plans to highlight cancer care in developing countries and the transfer of nuclear and related technologies for peaceful use.
During his time in the federal capital region, Mr. Amano is expected to meet with senior government figures and pay visits to the National Hospital in Abuja and the Nuclear Technology Centre at Sheda, roughly 70 km outside the capital.

The German Deputy Chancellor and Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle, will meet Director General Mohamed ElBaradei at the IAEA on Wednesday, 25 November 2009. The IAEA Board of Governors will convene a regular meeting at the Agency′s Headquarters starting on Thursday, 26 November 2009, in "Boardroom A" of the M-Building, in the Vienna International Centre (VIC).
Director General Mohamed ElBaradei will open the meeting with an introductory statement. His statement will be released to journalists after delivery and posted on the IAEA website the same day.

We just concluded our meeting of 2 1/2 days on "how-to" modalities, and how to ensure that Iran will have the fuel required for its research reactor.
As you know that research reactor is used for producing medical isotopes for diagnosis and treatment of cancer, so it is a purely humanitarian mission, objective.
However, everybody is aware that that transaction using Iran′s low enriched uranium to be manufactured into fuel is a very important confidence building measure that can diffuse a crisis that has been going on for a number of years and open space for negotiation.

The IAEA will host a meeting of representatives from France, Iran, Russia and the United States at the Agency′s Headquarters on Monday, 19 October 2009, in the M Building in the Vienna International Centre. Discussions are expected to focus on the details of a plan to provide Iran with fuel for operation of the Tehran Research Reactor.
The meeting is expected to begin at 15:00 on Monday afternoon and may last two to three days. There is currently no time set for a possible press briefing.

I came here to discuss a broad range of issues with Dr. Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the Atomic Energy Commission of Iran, and also with President Ahmadinejad. I am not a newcomer to Tehran. I have been coming here often to see how we can move forward with our cooperation in the area of verification, safety, technical cooperation.
