Member States Side Events
In 2025, the Russian nuclear industry celebrates its 80th anniversary: on August 20, 1945, the Special Committee on the Nuclear Energy was formed. The USSR was a pioneer and world leader in the peaceful use of nuclear energy: world's first industrial nuclear power plant was built in 1954, and the first nuclear icebreaker in 1959. Today Rosatom constructs nuclear power plants worldwide, providing clean energy to hundreds of millions of people in dozens of countries around the world, while also ensuring the operation of the logistics framework of the Northern Sea Route, developing new materials and producing isotopes for nuclear medicine.
Background Rosatom was the first to commission Generation IV nuclear reactors and SMRs. This event is organized by the Russian Federation.
This event will be held on Monday, 15 September 2025, from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. in Conference Room M5, M Building, ground floor.
