The purpose of the workshop is to provide diplomats and experts from Member States with an overview of the international legal regime of civil liability for nuclear damage. To this end, an introductory presentation on the international legal framework for nuclear liability will be delivered, followed by more specific presentations on the basic principles of nuclear liability, supplementary compensation for nuclear damage, insurance of nuclear risks, and the IAEA legislative assistance programme. There will also be a general discussion of topical issues of nuclear liability and, for this purpose, participants are encouraged to indicate topics that they would like to be discussed at the workshop.
