Best Practices for Involving Women in the Nuclear Industry
Currently, women professionals are underrepresented in the nuclear industry in many countries. At the same time, women are getting more interested in pursuing careers in this field. Leading Russian and international studies suggest that diverse management teams achieve better results, which has resulted in significant interest from the business world. Several programmes led by women's expert communities and educational organizations have the aim of providing comprehensive support for women in the technology sector. The side event will feature experts sharing their vision for building strategies to involve women in the nuclear industry, present projects, and successful cases. This event is organized by the Russian Federation.

Financing Nuclear Energy for Low Carbon Transitions
This event will highlight takeaways from the 2024 edition of Climate Change and Nuclear Power, including key risks faced by investors when financing nuclear projects and characteristics of programmes which achieved construction and cost predictability. The presentation will cover examples of financing approaches for the construction of both large reactors and SMRs, as well as lifetime extensions of existing plants and special considerations for emerging markets and developing economies.

Harnessing the Atom for Sustainable Development Goals: Sixty Years of Cooperation between the State of Kuwait and the International Atomic Energy Agency
This side event will present sixty years of cooperation between the State of Kuwait and the International Atomic Energy Agency, focusing on how the country has applied nuclear science and technology to address sustainable development goals. This event is organized by Kuwait.

This event will enable discussions by the national representatives of the Regional Co-operative Agreement for Research, Development and Training Related to Nuclear Science and Technology (RCA). Participants will review the achievements of the agreement in 2023 and approve activities for 2024.?
This event will be held on Friday, 13 September 2024, from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. in Conference Room CR7, C Building, seventh floor.
The IAEA Archives are a pillar of the IAEA’s institutional memory, spanning over 70 years and comprising over 10 000 shelf metres of hard-copy records and 10 terabytes of data. These walking tours are an opportunity to look behind the scenes to:
- Experience the size and composition of the IAEA Archives;
- Interact with some of the treasures in our holdings and be inspired by the Agency’s history;
- View the Reading Room and an archival repository, and learn about challenges in preservation and access management; and
- Hear how the Department of Management oversees the IAEA Archives.
Tours run from 1.00 to 2.00 p.m. daily.?For those wishing to attend the tour, registration can be completed online here or?in person at the IAEA Archives Tour Registration stand, located on the ground floor of the M building.
Tour of the IAEA’s Nuclear Applications Hydrology Laboratories in the VIC
Visitors to the IAEA’s Hydrology Laboratory in the VIC will be shown the laboratory facilities that support Member States in the application of nuclear and nuclear-related techniques for the isotopic analysis of water samples.? This tour will include the tritium and noble gas facilities for age dating groundwaters and the laser lab where stable isotope of oxygen and hydrogen are analysed to provide data about the hydrological cycle.
This tour will be offered on Wednesday, 18 September 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Prior registration is required, as a maximum of 12 visitors can be accommodated.
