          Description

In many Member States, radioactively contaminated land exists due to past activities, accidents or from naturally occurring sources. Limited resources are a key obstacle to remediation efforts. Innovations in remediation technologies offer an opportunity to implement sustainable solutions that balance costs, environmental impact, social needs, and safety. Nevertheless, enabling technology maturity throughout the research, development, and deployment phases presents a perpetual challenge. As well as measuring the effectiveness of an approach to inform remediation decisions and designs.
The objective of this CRP is to sustain and strengthen the technology knowledge base of Member States by identifying novel and innovative low cost remediation technologies that are in the technology validation or demonstration phase for use on radioactively contaminated land. Furthermore, to facilitate communication among Member States, enabling knowledge exchange and capacity building to share best practices and address common challenges in environmental remediation.

          Objectives

To sustain and strengthen the technology knowledge base of Member States by identifying low cost remediation techniques and technologies at the validation and demonstration phases which could practical application in the next 10-15 years and facilitate communication and collaboration among Member States, enabling knowledge exchange and capacity building to share best practices and address common challenges in environmental remediation.
