          UNMOVIC IAEA Press Statement on Inspection Activities in Iraq

          This evening, UNMOVIC conducted two separate private interviews with Iraqi individuals. One was with a senior scientist and another with a missile expert. No Iraqi witness was present during the interviews. The interview with the senior scientist lasted approximately four hours. The interview with the missile expert lasted approximately two and a half hours. During the interviews, a number of relevant issues were addressed.

          The IAEA also conducted, this evening, a private interview with an Iraqi chemical engineer. No Iraqi witness was present during the interview, which lasted approximately two and a half hours. A broad range of technical matters was covered during the interview.

          Today's inspections:

          An UNMOVIC chemical team inspected the Al Wathba Water Project in Baghdad.

          Two UNMOVIC multidisciplinary teams inspected three sites approximately 95 km south of Baghdad: the Suwaira Stores Plant Protection Division, which stores pesticides and is a declared site; a munitions store, which is an undeclared site; and the Technical Institute, which trains skilled workers and is also an undeclared site.

          An UNMOVIC biological team inspected a combined agricultural and ammunition storage site close to Al Kut, approximately 150 km southeast of Baghdad. Another biological team performed an aerial inspection on two sites approximately 150 km north of Baghdad: Samarra Drug Industry and Salah Ad Din State Company.

          An UNMOVIC missile team inspected the Al Waziriyah site, which is the headquarters for the development of the Al Samoud Missile.
