3 February 2003 -- Four UNMOVIC biological teams inspected four separate sites. The first two teams inspected the Applied Science Department of the University of Technology and the Tropical Diseases Unit of the Al Kindi Medical School. Both are in Baghdad. A third team inspected a military training facility in the Salman Pak area, 35 km south of Baghdad. A fourth team, together with a multidisciplinary team, inspected a storage area owned by the Al Nida Moulds Plant, 15 km southeast of Baghdad. The plant makes moulds and dyes for a range of products including munitions.
Four UNMOVIC missile teams inspected four separate sites. Al Salam that is involved in the design and production of rocket fuse timers; Al Qudis that is involved in research, design, assembly and testing of guidance and control systems; Al Saad Company that is involved in designing missile-producing equipment; and Al Qa Qaa that produces double-base solid propellant for missiles.
An UNMOVIC chemical team inspected the Arab Company for Detergent Chemicals, also known as ARADET, located approximately 200 km north of Baghdad. It is a facility for raw materials, which are used to produce detergents.
The IAEA teams conducted 2 inspections. One team inspected the Ibn Al Hytham industrial manufacturing plant, including a facility formerly known as MIC stores, in the Taji area north of Baghdad. A second team performed a motorized radiation survey in areas south of Baghdad.
