          Description

The International Dosimetry library for Fission and Fusion (IRDFF) is an energy and materials extension of the International Reactor Dosimetry File (IRDF-2002) to cover fission, fusion and accelerator driven applications. The extension includes 29 new dosimetry reactions and an increase of high energy boundary from 20 up to 60 MeV. The main objectives of CRP will be an experimental validation of cross sections in the neutron fields produced by reactors and accelerators to demonstrate the quality of IRDFF and to make necessary adjustments to the cross sections and uncertainties. The verified IRDFF library will replace IRDF-2002 as a reference dosimetry database for?fission and fusion applications.

          Objectives

The overall objective is to verify and validate the cross sections and the uncertainty information in the IRDFF library for fission reactor and fusion-related neutron dosimetry, especially the new features like the additional dosimetry reactions and the extension of the cross section data to 60 MeV

          Specific objectives

Specific objectives were to extend the energy region of all data to 60 Mev, add reaction cross sections to monitor neutron fields close to 20 MeV and above, extend the collection of standard neutron fields and perform validation of the data by comparison?between calculated and measured?integral quantities such as spectrum-averaged cross sections.

          Impact

Extremely high impact, this is the only international reactor dosimetry library available worldwide. It is being adopted both by the USA and Europe expert bodies.

          Relevance

Highly relevant to deliver the recommended and validated IRDFF library.
