Regional Workshop to Promote the Universalization of the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material (CPPNM) and its Amendment

The objective of the workshop is to raise awareness of the importance of the CPPNM and its Amendment, to discuss progress in implementation of the CPPNM and its Amendment, identify regional approaches and needs within the region for adherence to, and implementation of the amended Convention, and to provide an understanding of the relevant IAEA legislative assistance and technical activities.
The workshop is open to all countries in the region that are not Parties to the CPPNM and/or the Amendment as well as some selected States that have adhered to the CPPNM as amended. These States are invited to designate one or more participants for this workshop. Participants should be or represent their country’s Points of Contact, or be senior officials of national authorities with responsibilities related to the ratification of or adherence to the Amendment to the CPPNM. Participants should also be prepared to present and/or discuss their implementation of CPPNM or their plans for adherence to the CPPNM and its Amendment.?
