Workshop on Methods for Radiological and Environmental Impact Assessment (MEREIA)

The IAEA will host the concluding Workshop on Methods for Radiological and Environmental Impact Assessment (MEREIA), the latest in a series of international initiatives—following MODARIA and EMRAS—aimed at enhancing Member States’ capacity and capabilities to conduct radiological environmental impact assessments (REIA).
Since its beginning, MEREIA has provided a platform for sharing experience, addressing practical challenges, and applying IAEA Safety Standards through collaborative case studies.
This final Workshop will offer an international forum to present the outcomes of the MEREIA working groups and individual contributions from participants. Plenary round tables and parallel oral sessions will explore key themes in REIA, with a strong focus on knowledge exchange, involvement of young and emerging professionals, and practical applications.
A dedicated session will gather feedback on the programme’s structure and impact, as well as facilitating discussion on the future direction of MEREIA and REIA practices more broadly.?
Participation is open to individuals designated by an IAEA Member State and applications should be submitted via the InTouch+ platform through the appropriate national authority by 1 September 2025. Applications requesting financial support must be submitted by 18 August 2025.
